Point and Shoot Cameras
These cameras can take good pictures with a minimum of effort. They can be used on automatic settings and that is how a majority of people use them. Many of them are the compact rectangular type that fit easily into a pocket or purse. Despite their size, the specs on these cameras keep increasing with respect to megapixels, video modes and zoom.

At the upper end of this range are the Advanced Point and Shoot cameras that look very much like a DSLR but they have a permanent lens instead of removable / exchangeable lenses. These cameras have more adjustment capability, more features and good specs.

Here are the best Point and Shoot cameras from each of the six major manufacturers with the prices:

 Notes:

1. The chart generally shows the best / highest spec cameras in each category. This does not mean that all of the cameras from the various manufacturers are equal..
2. Prices are based on the Amazon price in USD as of Feb 4, 2011. In most cases, the price is directly from Amazon not from third parties operating as Amazon merchants.
